Memorial Day Memories

This nation will remain the land of the free
only so long as it is the home of the brave. -Elmer Davis
I love the reminders I have seen this weekend of the meaning of today’s holiday, Memorial Day.  My favorite sight was a flag lined cemetery.  It was inspiring to see all the flags waving in the wind.  Memorial Day memories bring lots of warm feelings of family and friends, trips to the coast, barbeques, picnics and just plain backyard fun.  All of which are precious things for which the gratitude of our freedoms make even more meaningful.
Have a wonderful Memorial Day!

Gobs of Graduation Greeting Cards

To you, graduate! May the next part of your journey
bring you more joy, wisdom and success. Congratulations!
Do you know someone graduating this year? Whether it is from high school or college, this is an important occasion in their lives to recognize and celebrate.  Goodness, in our family, we celebrated the kindergarten, elementary and middle school graduations also; it is fun to celebrate important milestones!

SendOutCards does have GOBS of Graduation Greeting cards.  Go to the Category Expressions, then Congratulations, then Graduation or just type graduation in the search box at the top of the Card Catalog if you wish to see a smaller selection of graduation greeting cards..
My Wish to You On Your Graduation Day
May the world offer you as many wonderful things
as you have to offer the world.
Send a graduation greeting card acknowledging this accomplishment, offering your congratulations and wish for luck in the future. If you don’t know the graduate well, send one of our graduation greeting cards with a message already on the inside or find a quote or poem to add to the greeting card.  Many websites offer quotes like thinkexist.com or brainyquote.com; just use the search tool for graduation quotes.
Graduation is not the end; it is the Beginning.
If the graduate is a close family member this is a fantastic time to share your love and appreciation in writing expressing heartfelt feelings of the characteristics that make the graduate special to you and bound for more future successes.

And of course, as always, we have humorous graduation greeting cards if you feel so inclined. One of  my favorite funny graduation greeting cards is the one pictured below.
Your family is so extremely proud of you.
You can't even imagine the sense of relief they are feeling right now.
This would be a most opportune time to ask for money. Congratulations Graduate!

Don't Forget the Women in your LIfe

Do you know a forgotten mom, some woman who may not hear from family on Mother’s Day?  What a nice idea to send a Happy Mother’s Day card with a short, cheerful message about your gratitude towards your relationship with her!
Mother's Day is the best reason to say
all the things you should have said during the rest of the year.

A woman doesn’t have to bear children to bless many lives with her divine nurturing qualities.  Think of the many women in your life, not including your own mother, who have influenced you for good; some women having children of their own and some without children.  There are many of them.  Wouldn’t it be nice if you took this week to send a heartfelt card of gratitude for the role that they played in your life?  This is a great month to think about the nurturers in our lives and celebrate those relationships.

Happy Card Sending!

Remembering Mother

In 1998, I read an article by a leader in my church, Thomas S. Monson, who wrote of the Mother Forgotten and the Mother Remembered.  Once read, I have never forgotten its powerful message about the affect on all of us to remember and honor our mothers.  How true it is that, when we stop to remember our mothers, we are prone to improve our behavior as we live to honor her.

As Mother’s Day approaches and we rush about to find the perfect gift, we need only read the story cited in this article to know what a mother holds close to her heart.  As the story is told, after a mother passes away, her family gathers around the table to open her small metal treasure box.  There are three things inside: her marriage certificate, the deed to her modest home wherein she raised her children and then, the following:
“Then there was discovered a yellowed envelope that bore the marks of time. Carefully the flap was opened and from inside was taken a homemade valentine. Its simple message, in the handwriting of a child, read, “I love you, Mother.” Though she was gone, by what she held sacred mother taught yet another lesson. A silence permeated the room, and every member of the family made a pledge not only to remember, but also to honor mother.”
 A Mother's Love...
brings peace and quiet shelter
to a tender heart in need of comfort.
Her hope, patience and loving counsel are like
a haven through the changing scenes of one’s life.
As Mother’s Day approaches may we honor our mothers by the good lives we lead.  May we remember our mothers and show appreciation by verbally expressing or writing down the loving feelings of gratitude in our hearts and special memories of her love.  Or maybe just as the story relates, write “I love you” so she may read and reread it.
